I have devoted my life in Athens to both family and community and have served for thirty years in elected office.  After being the first woman elected to Athens City Council, and re-elected twice, I ran for Tax Commissioner. By electing me to that office seven times, my fellow citizens paid me the highest compliment by trusting their treasury to me for twenty-six years. I worked hard for you and earned a reputation of being firm, but fair in the administration of the tax office. Our citizens know that it does not matter what your political persuasion, age, ethnicity, social or financial status, when you need my help, you get my undivided attention.

I believe the experience and record you have allowed me to gain, makes me uniquely prepared to serve as Athens-Clarke County's next Mayor. I am very proud of my public service record. You know me. You know how I operate and what to expect. My philosophy of public service remains unchanged. I have never taken the trust you placed in me for granted. I work for you and hope my performance over the past thirty years has earned your confidence. I ask for your support, and your prayers, as I embark on this exciting journey.
